Avianca (Bogotá) is set to acquire Argentine operator Macair Jet (Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery) sources close to the deal have informed La Nacion newspaper. The news follows recent speculation that aside from Macair, the Colombian operator had also considered either Sol Líneas Aéreas (Rosario Islas Malvinas) or Austral (Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery).

Macair Jet is owned by the family of recently elected president Maurizio Macri and operates a fleet of six executive jets including Gulfstream IVs, and various Learjet 35s and 60s. A Jetstream 32 is also maintained for regular scheduled air taxi flights from Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery to Reconquista and Sunchales.
