Cambodia Angkor Air (Siem Reap) has signed an agreement with BOC Aviation for the longterm lease of two new A320-200s which will be delivered by the end of the year.
Tek Reth Samrach, the chairman of Cambodia Angkor Air, told the Khmer Times during the signing ceremony this past weekend that the added capacity would allow the carrier to reopen flights from Phnom Penh to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi while developing new services to Hong Kong International and Singapore Changi. Other new routes under consideration include Siem Reap to Hanoi Noi Bai International, Da Nang, Shanghai Pudong, and Guangzhou.
In the longterm, the Indian, Japanese and South Korean markets will also be looked at, he said.
Cambodia Angkor Air operates two A321-200s and two ATR72-500s, all of which are leased from its parent, Vietnam Airlines (VN, Hanoi Noi Bai International). It offers scheduled passenger flights to eleven destinations across Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, and China.
