Blue Wings (Düsseldorf) has been the first carrier in 2010 that has been forced to suspend operations. It has stopped its scheduled and charter services on January 13 due to financial difficulties. It is reportedly considering resuming operations and its CEO Jörn Hellwig is reportedly trying to acquire the 48% stake in Blue Wings held by Alpstream, an investment company controlled by Russian billionaire Alexander Lebedew. This would give Hellwig who already owns a 26% stake in the carrier majority control. Blue Wings had operated scheduled services from Germany to Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Russia, Syria and Turkey and wet-leased its A320-200s to carriers such as Air Berlin (AB/Berlin Tegel) and Safi Airways (4Q/Kabul) over the last couple of months.
