Niki (Austria) (Vienna) will become an associate member of oneworld when its parent Air Berlin (AB/Berlin Tegel) joins the alliance in early 2012. American Airlines (AA/Dallas/Fort Worth) will already start codesharing on Niki services from Barcelona, Frankfurt Intl and Zurich to Vienna as of November 1. It also plans to codeshare with Finnair (AY/Helsinki) as of later this year but no further details are known yet. Air Berlin has increased its stake in Niki from 24% to 49.9% in a 21 million EUR transaction. It has also provided a 40.5 million EUR loan that will be repayable in three years by majority owner Niki Lauda either as cash or the other 50.1% of the shares in the carrier. New routes have been added to its network: Linz-Tenerife Sur-Fuerteventura-Linz: weekly seasonal A320-200 service starting on November 6 Vienna-Jerez de la Frontera: weekly seasonal A320-200 service (already launched) Vienna-Valencia: 2x weekly A320-200 service starting on February 3, 2010 Niki has now also extended its codeshare agreement with S7 Airlines (S7/Novosibirsk) to include domestic flights in Russia. Niki has again temporarily wet-leased an A320-200 from Air Berlin this summer season, it has also taken delivery of two additional new A320-200s that were originally ordered by Air Berlin.
