Ukraine International Airlines (PS, Kyiv Boryspil) has leased a sixth ex-LOT Polish Airlines (LO/Warsaw) B737-500 and has launched new routes from its Kiev Borispol hub and from Ivano-Frankovsk: Ivano-Frankovsk-Milan Malpensa: weekly seasonal B737-500 service between May 21 and September 17 Ivano-Frankovsk-Rome Fiumicino: weekly B737-500 service has started on April 3 Kiev Borispol-Abu Dhabi- Colombo Bandaranaike Intl: 2x weekly seasonal B737-800 service has operated between December 12 and March 22 Kiev Borispol-Abu Dhabi-Goa: 2x weekly seasonal B737-800 service has operated between December 9 and March 10 Kiev Borispol-Astana: 3x weekly B737-500 service has started on April 26 Kiev Borispol-Dnepropetrovsk: 6x weekly B737-500 service has started on March 27 Kiev Borispol-Moscow Domodedovo: 2x daily B737-500 service starting on July 20 Kiev Borispol-Samara: 4x weekly B737-500 service has started on May 18 Due to runway repairs, Lviv airport can only accommodate small aircraft this summer season. UIA has wet-leased a Fokker 50 from Air Baltic (BT/Riga) to operate twice daily service between Kiev Borispol and Lviv but has been forced to cancel its other services from Lviv to Barcelona, Donetsk, Madrid, Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino in the meantime. The Ukrainian government is planning to sell its 62% majority stake in an auction later this year. Dniproavia (Z6/Dnepropetrovsk) is said to be one of the interested bidders.
