UK's Jet2 bumps A321neo order to 60
20.07.2022 - 11:22 UTCJet2 (United Kingdom) (LS, Leeds/Bradford) disclosed in its annual report for the financial year March 31, 2022, that it has increased its A321-200N order book by three aircraft to 60.
The British leisure-focused low-cost carrier ordered thirty-six A321-200Ns with options for a further 24 in August 2021. It has been gradually increasing the commitment since then, both through new orders and the conversion of options. It currently has 15 options remaining, which would potentially increase the A321neo fleet to 75.
The first A321neo is due to deliver to Jet2 in early 2023 with the remaining 59 due by the end of 2029.
The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows that the carrier's current-generation fleet comprises three A321-200s, seven B737-300s, seventy-seven B737-800s, and eight B757-200s. UK's Jet2 adds wet-leased B757
16.06.2022 - 10:16 UTCJet2 (United Kingdom) (LS, Leeds/Bradford) has wet-leased a B757-200 from fellow British operator Titan Airways (ZT, London Stansted) to add extra capacity to the Mediterranean, ch-aviation research has revealed.
G-ZAPX (msn 29309) has been based out of London Stansted and operating for Jet2 since May 26, 2022, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows. The aircraft is deployed on a variety of routes to Mediterranean destinations, ranging from Faro in the west to points in Greece in the east.
Neither of the two airlines responded to ch-aviation's query about the duration of the wet-lease commitment. Jet2 does not file schedules for the aircraft.

SmartLynx Airlines Malta takes first B737 MAX 8
14.06.2022 - 05:58 UTCSmartLynx Airlines Malta (LYX, Malta Int'l) took delivery of its first B737-8 on May 31, 2022, after 9H-ORN (msn 44863) was ferried from Prague Václav Havel to Malta Int'l in an all-white livery. The jet was delivered to Jet Airways (9W, Mumbai Int'l) in 2018 but returned during the Indian carrier's business restructuring. It is owned by SMBC Aviation Capital, the ch-aviation fleets ownership module shows.
The MAX 8 began operating charters for SmartLynx Airlines Malta and its sister carrier SmartLynx Airlines Estonia (MYX, Tallinn Lennart Meri) on June 11, 2022, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows. It is currently based out of Tallinn Lennart Meri and is the first Boeing jet operated by SmartLynx Airlines (6Y, Riga) or its Estonian or Maltese subsidiaries.
The Maltese airline's fleet has thus far comprised Airbus aircraft exclusively: seven A320-200s, two A321-200s, one A321-200(P2F), one A321-200(PCF), and seven A330-300s.

ASL Aviation Holdings, SmartLynx to add A321 freighters
10.05.2022 - 07:57 UTCASL Aviation Holdings has signed a commitment with Cargo Aircraft Management to lease three A321-200(PCF)s, with the first two due for delivery in 2022 and the third one in 2023, the lessor's parent Air Transport Services Group said in its quarterly earnings report.
"We are pleased to count ASL Aviation Holdings, a major source of cargo lift to integrated global networks, among our future lessees of Airbus cargo aircraft. ASL has ordered the first two of our A321 freighters in the second half of this year, a third in 2023," President and Chief Executive of ATSG Rich Corrado said.
The Irish holding will become the launch customer for Cargo Aircraft Management's A321-200(PCF)s, taking N982CM (msn 1972) and N983CM (msn 1887). The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows that the former is already in conversion at Tampa Int'l, while the latter remains at Goodyear.
