Qatar Airways leases Air Mauritius's Heathrow slots
11.09.2023 - 05:01 UTCQatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad International) has leased three slot pairs at London Heathrow from Air Mauritius (MK, Mauritius) as the latter is moving its London operations to London Gatwick.
According to Airport Coordination Ltd records, Qatar Airways secured the Winter 2023/24 season slots for flights from Doha Hamad International on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It plans to use the B777-300(ER) on these services.
The Mauritian carrier chose to move its operations to Gatwick to provide daily, consistent connectivity to London, replacing the current 5x weekly service to Heathrow. On top of its three owned slots at Heathrow, now due to be used by Qatar Airways, Air Mauritius leases the other two slot pairs it currently uses from Royal Brunei Airlines (BI, Bandar Seri Begawan).
The ch-aviation schedules module shows that Qatar Airways currently operates daily to Gatwick and up to 7x daily to Heathrow.

US's GLOBALX adds first A319, bets on more A321 freighters
15.08.2023 - 13:20 UTCGLOBALX (G6, Miami International) is set to add its first A319-100 after N285GX (msn 1936) was ferried for final maintenance at Lakeland on July 14, 2023 ahead of its handover next week. The 20-year-old jet will deliver in its original configuration, seating up to 132 passengers, in which it operated for its previous operator, Air Mauritius (MK, Mauritius). However, GLOBALX plans to reconfigure it into a single-class VIP layout.
"This airplane should have been delivered about six months ago. Its continuous delays are because of various supply chain issues. Once we get it onto our certificate, it will be converted for a period of time this winter into a VIP configuration with 68 seats. And this airplane is already almost fully booked up on its. [Its configuration] will make an excellent airplane for many of the sports teams that we fly," Chief Executive Ed Wegel said during an investor briefing.

Air Mauritius orders three incremental A350-900s
19.06.2023 - 12:52 UTCAir Mauritius (MK, Mauritius) has confirmed its commitment for three A350-900s during the ongoing 2023 Paris Air Show, one more than previously ordered, bringing its total order backlog for the type from six to seven.
"Air Mauritius is proud to renew its confidence in Airbus and its products, continuing a three-decade-long partnership. The additional A350-900 aircraft will help us strengthen our European network and secure further growth in other markets. We are looking forward to achieving our ambition objectives together with Airbus," Chief Executive Kresimir Kučko said.
An announcement did not provide any further details regarding delivery dates only saying the airline would use the aircraft on its European and South Asian routes.
The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows the state-owned carrier currently operates four A350-900s, two A330-900s, one A330-200 (with one more due shortly), and three ATR72-500s. It is recently tendered for an A320/A321 narrowbody.
