Slovenia's CAMEX Adria Airlines takes first B737-800(BCF)
29.06.2023 - 10:49 UTCCAMEX Adria Airlines (CMM, Maribor) took delivery of its first B737-800(BCF) on June 27, 2023, as part of the final steps in its certification process.
OE-IBB (msn 33973) was ferried, post-maintenance, from Kaunas International to Maribor, still under its Austrian registration. Owned by Icelease, the 18.7-year-old jet was converted into a freighter at London Gatwick.
The aircraft joins one B737-800(BCF) and one B737-800(SF) operated by its Georgian sibling, CAMEX Airlines (Z7, Tbilisi). Chief Executive George Seturidze recently told ch-aviation that he had hoped to secure a Slovenian AOC by the end of the month. The carrier plans to have a "strong foothold" in Slovenia, with local staff and offices in the country, even though its initial operations will focus on Liège.
Once CAMEX has both AOCs operational, it will rethink its future fleet growth strategy, likely in late summer 2023.
