9 Air (AQ, Guangzhou) took delivery of its first aircraft - a B737-800 WIN. - following a ferry flight from Victorville to Guangzhou via Honolulu last week. Chinese media reports state B-1715 (msn 39819) was presented to the public on August 30.
The aircraft is the first of three leased from Lion Air (JT, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) sister firm, the Singaporean lessor, Transportation Partners (TP), with the other two due to arrive before the end of the year.
Formerly Jiu Yuan Airlines (Guangzhou), the Juneyao Airlines (Shanghai Hongqiao) subsidiary plans to launch budget services to second and third-tier cities from its Guangzhou hub later this month before expanding regionally.
