Grand China Air (CN, Haikou) has been sanctioned by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) for its poor on-time performance.

According to China Aviation Daily, an official notice indicates that effective June 27, the Hainan Airlines (HU, Haikou) subsidiary has been barred from adding any new frequencies, charter services, or making any new route applications.

Grand China Air operates three B737-800s on scheduled passenger flights to Guilin, Hailar, Harbin, Mudanjiang, and Yinchuan from its Beijing Capital hub.

In the same notice, the CAAC also continued its ban on the airports of Shanghai Pudong, Xiamen, and Fuzhou adding any new frequencies and charter services, as well as making new route applications for the month of July. Nanjing has also been barred from adding any new routes for the duration of this month.

The sanctions relate to poor on-time performances. CAAC will lift the embargo only once an offending airfield has improved its on-time performance for a period of two consecutive months. As such, Haikou and Sanya airports will, this month, be allowed to resume applications for new services after they each improved their own respective on-time performances.
