BVI Airways (Tortola) has inaugurated operations following its maiden commercial service on Wednesday, April 11.

The start-up said in a statement the flight - Tortola-Curacao - operated onboard one of its two ARJ-100s, VP-LOS (msn E3282), in support of the British Virgin Islands Athletics team.

Having secured its revised Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from Air Safety Support International, the UK regulator responsible for the British Overseas Territories, in January, BVI Airways has applied for permissions to serve Miami International in the United States on a scheduled basis. It also plans to serve Bridgetown.
