Shanghai Airlines (FM, Shanghai Hongqiao) has taken delivery of its first B737-8 from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) following a handing-over ceremony at Seattle Boeing Field on Monday, November 27.

B-1382 (msn 61621) was subsequently ferried to Honolulu and then to Majuro where it is currently awaiting onward transmission to the Chinese mainland. An airline statement indicated the aircraft is due to make its commercial debut on Sunday, December 3 on the Shanghai Hongqiao-Xi'an Xianyang-Shanghai Hongqiao route.

A second of the type, B-1379 (msn 61622), is due to be handed over in the coming days.

Shanghai Airlines' B737 MAX 8s will feature a total of 176 seats with eight in business class, eighteen in super economy class, and 150 in economy class.
