Island Express Air (Abbotsford) is set to resume air taxi operations after Transport Canada reinstated its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC).

The Canadian regional carrier's AOC was suspended in February this year following an incident involving one of its two Beech (twin turboprop) King Air B100s. A subsequent investigation found various violations of local aviation regulations, all of which have now been resolved.

"Island Express Air has addressed Transport Canada's concerns regarding the deficiencies in its operations," the regulator said in a statement on June 26. "Transport Canada will closely monitor Island Express Air’s operations to verify that the company remains compliant with aviation safety regulations."

Prior to its suspension of operations, Island Express Air had operated two Beech (twin turboprop) King Air 100s and eight Piper (twin piston) Cherokee/Navajos on scheduled passenger flights connecting Abbotsford with Victoria International, Nanaimo, BC, Comox, Vancouver Boundary Bay, and Qualicum. It had also offered charter flights to destinations across British Columbia and to the rest of Canada as well as the United States.
