David Neeleman, together with a group of investors, is in talks with Airbus over an order for sixty A220s (formerly Bombardier Aerospace CSeries), Bloomberg has reported.

The newswire's sources stressed that the potential order, if placed, would be done directly by the investors and would not involve JetBlue Airways, Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras, or any other Neeleman-related airlines. A commitment could be announced during the ongoing Farnborough Air Show, subject to the finalisation of negotiations.

It was reported earlier this year that the US-Brazilian entrepreneur was considering establishing a new low-cost carrier, tentatively named Moxy Airways (Salt Lake City), which would serve secondary airports in the United States. The project is reportedly backed by USD100 million in initial funding and, aside from Neeleman, includes former Air Canada CEO Bob Milton, and former ILFC CEO Henri Courpron as investors.

jetBlue itself recently ordered sixty A220-300s (CS300s) with a further sixty options, becoming the first customer of the programme since it was formally taken over by Airbus on July 1, 2018.
