The new American start-up low-cost carrier backed by David Neeleman will focus on currently unserved routes and will closely cooperate with Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, São Paulo Viracopos), which Neeleman owns, the founder told the BMF Media Group.

"I doubt we’ll have a single route that has any competition," Neeleman said, as reported by Skift.

The airline tentatively named Moxy Airways (Salt Lake City) (although the name is due to change at a later point), will serve both Latin America and Europe from the US using its fleet of A220-300s. In Brazil, it will be fed on regional routes by Azul. Using the Airbus jets, Moxy will not be able to reach southern Brazil directly from the US, although Neeleman said it would definitely look at flying from Florida to northern Brazil

Neeleman also said that the airline will focus on the newest technology and be "app-first", with limited need for an interaction between the customer and any of the airline's employees. The technology hub will most likely be based at Salt Lake City. Neeleman added he would rather keep the airline private as he had enough interest from investors already.

Moxy has sixty A220-300s on order with deliveries due to start in 2020, ahead of the airline's launch in early 2021.
