Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo) is switching its destination airport in Beijing from Beijing Capital to Beijing Daxing International with the start of the Summer 2020 season, ch-aviation analysis of schedule data has revealed.

From March 29 onwards, the Russian flag carrier will operate its 3x daily service from Moscow Sheremetyevo, 5x weekly route from Krasnoyarsk Yemelyanovo, and 2x weekly city pairs from Vladivostok and Khabarovsk Novy (both flown by subsidiary Aurora) to the new airport. Aeroflot and Aurora will fly a mixture of equipment on these routes including its B777-300(ER)s, A350-900s, A319-100s and B737-800s.

From June 3, 2020, the airline plans to introduce a fourth daily service to Daxing, with all four daily services operated by the airline's A350-900 fleet, subject to its schedules recovering following the ongoing Coronavirus infection.

Unlike many carriers, Aeroflot is continuing to operate to China during the epidemic. In its last statement on its website issued on January 30, the airline is offering passengers the ability to rebook or get refunds on its Chinese flights.

For the current winter season, no Russian carrier is using the Chinese capital's new airport, with Aeroflot, Aurora (HZ, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk), S7 Airlines (S7, Novosibirsk), and Ural Airlines (U6, Ekaterinburg) all still flying their respective services to Beijing Capital. However, all of the services offered by these carriers will switch to Daxing with the onset of the Summer 2020 season.
