Facing a spike in the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19, the Myanmarese government has suspended all domestic flights effective September 11, 2020, English-language daily Irrawaddy has reported.

Myanmar National Airlines (UB, Yangon) and Air Thanlwin (ST, Yangon) confirmed via their respective Facebook pages that they would suspend all flights through the end of September, while Mann Yadanarpon Airlines (7Y, Yangon) and Golden Myanmar Airlines (GMR, Yangon) said the suspension would continue through October 1, 2020.

Air KBZ (Yangon) said that while it would suspend most operations through the end of the month, it would continue operating charter domestic flights to Kyaukpyu.

MAI - Myanmar Airways International (8M, Yangon), Air KBZ's sister airline, said it would continue operating relief international flights. The carrier does not ply any domestic routes.

International scheduled flights to and from Myanmar are banned through the end of September 2020.
