Swire Pacific Finance Limited will issue HKD4.7 billion dollars (USD600 million) in zero-coupon exchangeable bonds linked to Cathay Pacific (CX, Hong Kong International) shares, according to a stock exchange filing dated June 9, 2026.
The bonds, guaranteed by Swire Pacific and arranged by J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, and HSBC, are expected to settle on June 16, 2026, with maturity on June 16, 2027. Net proceeds are expected at approximately HKD4.652 billion (USD593.7 million) after fees and expenses.
Bondholders may exchange the securities into Cathay Pacific shares at an initial exchange price of HKD13.18 (USD1.7), representing a 2.9% premium to the June 9 closing price. Full conversion would result in up to 356.6 million shares, or approximately 5.9% of Cathay Pacific's issued share capital.
Swire Pacific stated it intends to use the capital for general working capital purposes.
While full conversion of the bonds would reduce its holding to approximately 39.2%, the conglomerate stated it remains committed to the carrier as its largest single shareholder and does not intend to alter Cathay Pacific's existing governance or management arrangements.
Following a previously reported disposal of a 2.5% stake at Cathay Pacific, Swire Pacific's shareholding dropped to 45.1% from 47.6% in March 2026.

Jetstar Airways will launch services from the new airport to Melbourne Airport, Gold Coast Coolangatta, and Brisbane International from October 25, 2026. The carrier will operate up to 14x weekly A320-200 flights on the Melbourne route, alongside 4x weekly services to Gold Coast Coolangatta and 3x weekly flights to Brisbane.
The Jetstar flight from Western Sydney to Gold Coast scheduled on October 25 will be the first revenue service out of the new airport.
In turn, Qantas will begin passenger operations from Western Sydney on March 28, 2027, operating 4x weekly flights each to Brisbane and Melbourne using an E190 aircraft operated by Alliance Airlines.
The flights are additional to the Qantas Group's existing operations at Sydney Kingsford Smith and are intended to expand capacity across the Sydney metropolitan area, the companies said.
Qantas Freight (Sydney Kingsford Smith) will start operating from Western Sydney's 24-hour cargo facility on July 27, 2026, one day after it officially opens. Qantas Group chief executive Vanessa Hudson said more than 850 tonnes of freight are expected to move through the carrier's new terminal each week.
The new Western Sydney International Airport is scheduled to open for passenger operations on October 25, 2026, becoming Australia's first major greenfield international airport development in more than 50 years.

The Finnish Air Force has retired the first of three 1982-built Learjet 35A(S) aircraft used for VIP and cargo transport, as well as a range of special missions, marking the beginning of the type's phase-out.
The retired jet, registered as LJ-1 (msn 35A-430), remained in service until mid-May. On May 27, the aircraft was transferred to the Finnish Air Force Academy at Jyväskylä, where it will serve as a training platform for air technical service conscripts and professional personnel.
Two Learjet 35A(S) aircraft, LJ-2 (msn 35A-451) and LJ-3 (msn 35A-470), remain active. Decisions regarding their future will be made closer to retirement.
The Learjet 35A(S) fleet has been employed for VIP and cargo transport, alongside special missions such as aerial photography, reconnaissance, and maritime surveillance. Each aircraft is configured to carry up to five passengers and a flight engineer. In 2018, all three jets underwent upgrades that extended operational life.
Meanwhile, the Learjet 35A(S) JETX replacement programme is nearing completion, with the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command expected to announce a final decision in June. Embraer Executive Jets, Pilatus Aircraft, and Textron Aviation remain in contention after Bombardier Business Aircraft exited the tender. Finnish Air Force personnel conducted evaluation flights with candidate aircraft during 2025 and 2026.
The programme calls for the acquisition of three new light or midsize twin-engine business jets capable of fully replacing current Learjet capabilities. The Finnish Defence Forces concluded that turboprop aircraft would not meet operational requirements.
