EZAir (Bonaire) has reached agreement with Jetstream Aviation Capital for the lease of larger capacity in the form of several 50-seater Saab 2000 turboprops, to be delivered during the remainder of 2022 and in 2023, the lessor announced.

This followed the delivery of a third 34-seater Saab 340B(Plus) to EZ Air on June 1, 2022, according to a statement. The Saab (Sweden) aircraft will be used for EZ Air's scheduled and charter passenger operations within the Caribbean, South and Central Americas.

The small regional airline and air ambulance provider is based on Bonaire, a Dutch special municipality located in the Caribbean off-shore from Venezuela. Bonaire forms part of the ABC Islands together with Aruba and Curacao.

The larger and faster Saab 2000 will allow EZ Air to fly higher and longer routes at an acceptable fuel cost, explained director René Winkel. The airline wants to serve the market between the ABC islands and St. Maarten, while the aircraft will also be used on the route to Medellín José Maria Córdova. Due to regulatory requirements relating to commissioning a new type of aircraft, the airline expects it to take several months before the Saab 2000 will be deployed, reported Bes Reporter.
