Everts Air Alaska (5V, Fairbanks International) is planning to eventually transition to B737-800 converted freighters as a replacement for its current fleet of MD-80 Family aircraft, Chief Executive Robert Everts told Cargo Facts.

"I would say the B737-800 is a natural progression for our narrowbody activities," he said.

The ch-aviation fleets module shows the Alaskan cargo specialist currently operates one MD-82(SF) and five MD-83(SF)s. It also has one MD-88 undergoing conversion at Dothan airport, according to the ch-aviation fleets module. The airline also has three BAe 146-300(QT)s, one B727-200(F), one DC-9-30RC, one DC-9-30(CF), and one DC-9-30F, all of which are in long-term storage. It recently placed an order for three Cessna 408Fs.

Everts Air Alaska's fleet also comprises eight DC-6(F)s (most in storage), three Douglas C-118As, one C-46, two Cessna (single turboprop) C208Bs, and one PC-12/47. Besides its core scheduled and charter cargo operations, the airline also plies scheduled passenger flights to remote destinations out of Fairbanks International.

Everts did not respond to ch-aviation's request for more information about its fleet rollover plans.
