Electra Airways (EAF, Sofia) has applied for a US Foreign Air Carrier Permit (FACP) and exemption authority to operate scheduled and charter services to the United States.

In its application to the US Department of Transportation (DOT), the Bulgarian ACMI/charter specialist did not reveal any further details regarding its US plans. However, contacted for comment, a spokeswoman did confirm the plan is to partner US airlines rather than EU ones flying to the US.

Electra Airways currently operates seven A320-200s, one A321-200, and one B737-300. In early 2023, it outlined plans to double its A320 fleet to fifteen aircraft and focus exclusively on the type. The entire fleet is currently in seasonal maintenance or parked for the winter season.
