Sunlight Air (2R, Manila Ninoy Aquino International) is shifting its operations and most of its flights to Angeles City Clark International on April 1, 2024. The Filipino carrier announced the change via a press release this week and said the move came after "careful consideration."

As a result, the existing Manila Ninoy Aquino - Busuanga, Manila Ninoy Aquino - Del Carmen (Siargao), and Manila Ninoy Aquino - Iloilo routes will become Clark - Busuanga, Clark - Del Carmen (Siargao), and Clark - Iloilo routes. The current Manila Ninoy Aquino - Cebu route will continue intact, becoming the only Sunlight Air service in and out of Manila Ninoy Aquino from April 1, while flights to Camiguin are discontinuing.

"This move was made with the consideration and evaluation of the feedback we receive," said Sunlight Air CEO Ryna Brito-Garcia in the statement, adding that the shift should result in "heightened efficiency and reliability."

Operating just over three years, Sunlight Air says the changes are designed to "refine services to ensure the best experience possible for customers." Clark Airport is just over 100 kilometres north of Ninoy Aquino. Travel time in a vehicle between the two airport is typically just over two hours. Recent improvements to Clark has resulted in an upswing of aircraft and passenger traffic at the airport. Sunlight Air says it hopes to increase flight frequencies and open up more routes from Clark in the near future.

Privately owned, Sunlight Air operates three ATR72-500s.
