BQB Líneas Aéreas (Punta del Este) has announced plans to set-up a sister carrier based at Asunción to operate regional services within Paraguay and to neighbouring countries. BQB is reportedly going to dry lease all seven ex-PLUNA (Montevideo Carrasco) CRJ900s Cosmo Airlines (Madrid Barajas) has recently acquired from the Uruguayan government in an auction. It has said that it would however only do that if it is able to use the traffic rights of PLUNA (Montevideo Carrasco) on routes from Uruguay given there is no other local competitor. BQB would then hire up to 200 former PLUNA employees if the plan goes ahead.
