Islas Airways (Tenerife Norte) has suspended all of its operations on October 16 due to financial difficulties. It had already been forced to cancel most of its flights on various days during the last couple of weeks because of strikes by employees due to unpaid wages. Islas had operated a three ATR 72-200s and three ATR 72-500s on regional services between the Canary Islands competing with Binter Canarias (NT, Gran Canaria) and offering routes between its two bases at Gran Canaria and Tenerife Norte and from both to Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Santa Cruz de La Palma and Valverde. It had originally launched operations back in 2003.
