Austrian jet charter and management company start-up Skyemotion (EMO, Altenrhein) plans to make its aircraft available to charter customers requesting services to/from the United States.
A regulatory filing with the US Department of Transportation (SOT) reveals the subsidiary of Swiss-based Lions Air (Switzerland) (Zurich) has applied for exemption and a foreign air carrier permit to engage in foreign charters of people, property, and mail from points in the US to the full extent permitted by its homeland operating authority Austro Control and the EU-US Open-Skies agreement; and for other charters on prior approval.
According to its submission, Skyemotion - based in Feldkirch/Münkafeld close to the border with Switzerland - holds an Austrian operating licence (GZ. 2023-0.179.161) issued on June 12, 2023, and an air operator's certificate (AOC) granted on June 6, 2023, which authorise it to perform commercial air transport on a worldwide basis with aircraft specified in its operations specifications (OpSpecs).
Skyemotion currently operates two Bombardier Business Aircraft and anticipates it will obtain OpSpecs for additional (unspecified) aircraft in the future that will also be available for charter service to and from the US. According to its website, it has one Global 7500, OE-LLS (msn 70138), and one Challenger 604, OE-LJS (msn 5658).
Lions Air and Skymedia (Zurich) merged in 2016 to become Lions Air Skymedia (LEU, Zurich).
