AJet (Türkiye) (VF, Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen) has secured five incremental A320-200Ns under a new dry lease contract with SMBC Aviation Capital.
The deliveries are expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2025, with the last unit set to arrive to AJet's fleet in the second quarter of 2026. The airline did not disclose the engine option for the new aircraft. ch-aviation asked AJet for a comment, but it was not immediately available.
Recently, the low-cost carrier secured fourteen A321-200N from Avolon and Carlyle Aviation Partners. The decision to dry-lease more aircraft aligns with the company's strategy to reduce dependency on ACMI capacity.
ch-aviation data shows that AJet's in-house fleet comprises five A320-200s and fifteen B737-800s. Parent Turkish Airlines continues to operate an additional 58 aircraft for AJet, including one A320-200, seven A320-200Ns, thirteen A321-200NX, seven B737-8s, and thirty B737-800s. Most of those aircraft are expected to eventually transfer to AJet's certificate. The carrier is also wet-leasing 12 aircraft from BBN Airlines Türkiye (seven), SmartLynx Airlines Malta (three), and SmartLynx Airlines (two).
