Swiss (LX, Zurich) expects to receive its first A350-900 in October 2025, in line with previously announced plans. The airline intends to initially deploy the new aircraft type on intra-European services before debuting it on the Zurich-Boston route on January 1, 2026.

The airline's first A350-900, due to be HB-IFA (msn 737), is currently undergoing testing at Toulouse Blagnac.

The A350-900s will feature Swiss' new first and business class product. The aircraft will have a four-class cabin layout with 156 economy class seats, 38 premium economy seats, 45 business class seats, and four first class seats (including a double seat in the middle), ch-aviation data reveals.

In total, Swiss is set to receive ten A350-900s from Lufthansa's existing orderbook with Airbus. Swiss hopes to take delivery of all of them by the end of 2031.

The airline's current widebody fleet comprises fourteen A330-300s, four A340-300s, and twelve B777-300ERs. The new A350s will first replace the ageing A340s that are, on average, 21.7 years old. A former chief executive, Dieter Vranckx, previously stated that the next aircraft type set for replacement is the A330.

Swiss subsidiary Edelweiss Air (WK, Zurich) already operates two A350-900s and expects the delivery of four more units.
