MedSky Airways (BM, Tripoli Mitiga) has ended in-house operations, having transferred its only A320-200, 5A-MSB (msn 4357), back to the air operator's certificate (AOC) of Malta MedAir (MT, Malta International). Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows that the aircraft was ferried from Tripoli Mitiga to Malta International on July 30.
"We will manage it on [MedSky's] behalf. It should be in service by the end of this month," Malta MedAir's chief executive officer, Paul Bugeja, confirmed to ch-aviation.
According to Skyliner Aviation, the aircraft will be registered as 9H-MSB, the same marks that it already carried in 2022, when it was operated by MedAir before the transfer to the Libyan register.
The A320 is a 2010-vintage aircraft powered by CFM International CFM56 engines. The aircraft features a dual-class cabin layout, with 120 economy class seats and 12 in business class. It had been operated by Saudia between 2010 and 2018 before joining the fleet of Kuwait Airways in 2019. Malta MedAir took delivery of the aircraft in July 2022 but operated it only until November of the same year, subsequently transferring it to MedSky.
ch-aviation data shows that the aircraft is currently owned by MedSky Airways.
ch-aviation reached out to the Libyan airline for comment but it was not immediately available.
With the departure of 5A-MSB, MedSky Airways is left with no in-house capacity and relies solely on two A320-200s wet-leased from Buraq Air and Malta MedAir. The Libyan carrier currently operates from Tripoli Mitiga to Istanbul Airport, Malta International, Milan Malpensa, Rome Fiumicino, Tunis, and Benghazi. It also operates from Benghazi to Rome Fiumicino and from Misurata to Tunis.
