Asia Jet Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur Subang) has inducted a brand-new Global 6500, becoming the first operator to register an aircraft of the type in Malaysia.
The 2024-built ultra-long-range jet, 9M-TAN (msn 60159), was ferried from the production facilities of Bombardier Business Aircraft at Montréal Trudeau to Kuala Lumpur Subang, where it is based, between May 24 and 26, with a stop at Sapporo Chitose. Configured for up to 15 passengers, it has been added to Asia Jet's air operator's certificate (AOC) and is available for charter. The aircraft has been active across the region since July 8.
At the same time, a 16.5-year-old Global 5000, msn 9350, which Asia Jet had operated since 2010 and which carried the same registration, 9M-TAN, was deregistered. It was active until March 27, when it flew between Kuala Lumpur Sebang and Singapore Seletar, where it has since remained parked.
Although the company's website lists both Global-series aircraft, the Global 5000's future registration remains unknown. The newly delivered Global 6500 is the only Global jet on Malaysia's civil register.
Asia Jet is currently the country's sole private jet charter operator and a subsidiary of Berjaya Land Berhad, a publicly listed conglomerate with interests in property development, hospitality, and motor retailing. Berjaya Land is part of Berjaya Corporation, which includes multiple other listed subsidiaries active across various sectors.
Within aviation, the group also owns Berjaya Air (J8, Kuala Lumpur Subang), which operates scheduled services out of Kuala Lumpur Sebang to Penang, Pulau Redang, and Singapore Seletar with an ATR42-500 and an ATR72-500. It also operates a Eurocopter SA365 and provides maintenance and hangarage services at Kuala Lumpur Sebang.
