euroAtlantic Airways (YU, Lisbon) says it plans to add two more A330s, increasing its current fleet from six to at least eight aircraft by mid-2026, and expects to add a ninth unit by 2027 as part of a long-term growth strategy dubbed New Era 2030.
The Lisbon-based ACMI/charter specialist, backed by UK-based investment firm Njord Partners, said it anticipates expanding its fleet by at least one aircraft per year, reaching a minimum of 12 by 2030 if current market conditions continue.
In an interview with UK magazine Transportation & Logistics International, CEO Stewart Higginson said the company plans to induct two more A330s having recently diversified its fleet with the addition of its first Airbus aircraft, A330-200 CS-TGD (msn 489), leased from AELF - Aircraft Engine Lease Finance, following decades of flying exclusively Boeing jets.
"As well as the A330-200, we’ll also be inducting two more Airbus A330 units into our fleet which are slightly different capacity models in terms of seating," he disclosed.
Higginson said the fleet expansion is central to euroAtlantic’s New Era 2030 strategic plan, which centres on developing a flexible fleet focused on ultra-long-range, high-payload widebodies.
A major turning point for euroAtlantic Airways came in 2024 when London-based Njord Partners became its majority shareholder. The investment firm injected fresh capital to revive an underfunded, largely non-operational fleet in the aftermath of the pandemic. Within a year, euroAtlantic added new aircraft, secured large contracts, and regained lost market share. Higginson said the move also restored confidence among lessors, banks, customers, and employees, while a rebuilt management team strengthened governance and accelerated the company’s turnaround.
"Sixty per cent of our capacity for the year ahead already sold out for long-term projects on behalf of our partners, and we plan to continue to expand our fleet and aim to be the top supplier in our specific niche," added CCO Raúl Largo.
euroAtlantic's current fleet comprises of one dry-leased A330-200, three B767-300ERs (two company-owned and one leased from Hainan Airlines and stored at Naples Capodichino); and two company-owned B777-200ERs, according to ch-aviation data.
