Sojitz Corporation has placed an order with Bombardier Business Aircraft for one Global 6500 and one Global 8000. The aircraft will be deployed under a new “share jet programme”, Japan's first fractional ownership scheme for large-cabin, ultra-long-range jets.
“Our decision to select the Global 6500 and the Global 8000 was driven by our extensive experience operating Bombardier aircraft in Japan,” said Yohei Sakurai, general manager of Sojitz Corporation's business jet department.
The Japan-based conglomerate encompasses around 400 subsidiaries, including Phenix Jet (RKS, Teterboro) and Phenix Jet Cayman, whose fleets include Global-family aircraft. As of July, Phenix Jet's Part 135 certificate comprised a Global 6000, a Global 6500, and four Global 7500s, while Phenix Jet Cayman currently manages at least two Global 7500s. Both companies also operate Boeing Business Jet, Gulfstream Aerospace, and Textron Aviation aircraft.
In mid-2024, Phenix Jet announced plans to add two Global 8000s, with deliveries expected in 2026.
ch-aviation contacted Sojitz Corporation regarding the delivery timeline of the two new Global jets and under which division they would be operated, but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
