Ghanaian helicopter operator Century Aviation has announced plans to launch fixed-wing scheduled air taxi passenger and cargo services using 19-seat SkyCourier 408 aircraft.

In a statement published by News Ghana, The Chronicle, and Ghana News, the company said Textron Aviation distributor Africair conducted a demonstration flight on September 25 from Accra to Ho with SkyCourier N408TA (msn 408-0041).

Although the flight did not appear on ADS-B tracking data, records show that the aircraft departed Wichita Eisenhower in the United States on September 8 and took 16 days to reach Ghana, making multiple stops in Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Scotland, Jersey, France, Spain, Morocco, Gran Canaria, Cabo Verde, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Côte d'Ivoire before arriving in Accra on September 23.

Responding to ch-aviation inquiries, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) confirmed the demonstration flight by Africair was conducted under "a special one-time approval for the demonstration of the SkyCourier to assist Century in potential future investment plans".

The regulator said Century Aviation is currently only certified for offshore helicopter operations.

According to Century Aviation, the company intends to operate scheduled passenger and cargo services to underserved markets while expanding its charter offerings, particularly for multinational clients in the oil, gas, and mining industries. It said it has been collaborating with Africair for the past four years to develop a reliable air taxi service tailored to Ghana’s transportation needs.

ch-aviation has contacted Century Aviation and Africair for comment.
