FAI Rent-A-Jet (IFA, Nuremberg) is finalising the acquisition of a Global 6000, which will join five Global Express aircraft in the carrier's fleet. At the same time, it sold a newly refurbished Challenger 604, to be offered for charter by FliteWatch (FLW, Malta International), and dry leased a Learjet 60 to Avcair (Brisbane International).
The Global 6000 is expected to enter FAI's fleet shortly. Details on the aircraft's manufacturer serial number and future registration remain undisclosed. According to the German operator, the acquisition follows a decision to place a Global Express under a long-term ACMI contract with a regular client in August.
In addition to the ultra-long-range Bombardier Business Aircraft, FAI operates three Learjet 60s, including one parked at Nuremberg since January 1, two Learjet 60XRs, and five Challenger 604s, one of which has also been parked at Nuremberg since February 28.
In an exclusive 2024 interview with ch-aviation, founder and chairman Siegfried Axtmann told ch-aviation the carrier's fleet was undergoing renewal, with further steps taken earlier in 2025 following the replacement of a Learjet 60 with a Learjet 60XR. At that time, FAI was considering replacing all Challenger 604s and Global Express aircraft with Challenger 605s and Global 6000s.
The Challenger 604 that the operator recently sold, D-AFAC (msn 5457), is now owned by an unnamed company based in the Middle East. The 25.5-year-old aircraft, operated by FAI from mid-2024 until July 2025, was refurbished by FAI Technik at Nuremberg. Configured to carry up to 12 passengers, it will be offered for charter by FliteWatch.
FliteWatch currently operates a single Falcon 7X trijet, with which it secured a Maltese air operator's certificate (AOC) in November 2024. It is currently unknown whether the Challenger 604 will be reregistered in Malta and placed on FliteWatch's AOC.
In addition, FAI dry-leased a Learjet 60 to Australia's Avcair for two years. The 29.7-year-old aircraft, VH-ULJ (msn 60-069), previously registered as D-CITA and operated by FAI from January 2019 to August 2025, departed Nuremberg in early November, ferrying to Singapore Seletar with stops at Alexandria Borg el Arab, Sharjah, and Colombo International.
Avcair group CEO Michael Cooke told ch-aviation that the seven-seat aircraft will operate primarily in an air ambulance configuration. “It complements our existing fleet of a Learjet 60 and a Learjet 60SE, supporting domestic and international aeromedical missions and enhancing overall capacity and response capability across the Asia-Pacific region,” he noted.
Looking ahead, Cooke added that Avcair's dedicated aeromedical fleet will expand with additional aircraft and capability enhancements.
Alongside three Learjet aircraft, Avcair operates three Citation Ultras for medical evacuation missions. A Phenom 300E, along with a Phenom 300 and two PC-12 turboprops inducted earlier this year are deployed on VIP executive services. A Citation II has remained stored at Karratha since December 2021.
