Malta Air (MW, Malta International) will close its Vienna base at the end of March 2026 as parent Ryanair Holdings downsizes its presence at the Austrian capital due to alleged high costs. The group is pulling all five Malta Air aircraft from the base, although its A320-200-operating subsidiary Lauda Europe will continue to base 14 aircraft out the city. The closure will affect approximately 120 employees, who can choose to relocate to one of the airline's other bases.
