IndiGo Airlines (6E, Delhi International) has taken delivery of the first of forty A321-200NY(XLR)s it has on direct order from Airbus. VT-NLA (msn 12622) was ferried from Hamburg Finkenwerder via Abu Dhabi International to Delhi International on January 6-7, 2026.
The aircraft is configured with 12 business class seats (dubbed IndiGoStretch by the low-cost carrier) and 183 economy seats. It is powered by CFM International LEAP-1A33B2X engines.
IndiGo Airlines expects a further eight units of the type by the end of 2026.
The airline will use the XLRs to expand its long-haul footprint on routes too thin for its forthcoming A350-900s. It plans to debut the type on new services from Mumbai International and Delhi to Athens, launching on January 23 and January 24, respectively. It listed Denpasar and Istanbul Airport as potential other destinations for the type.
