Hong Kong Air Cargo (RH, Hong Kong International) has taken delivery of its first passenger-to-freighter converted aircraft, A330-200(P2F) B-LMA (msn 1028), on January 8, 2026. It is also the first addition to the airline's fleet since 2017.
The 16.6-year-old, Rolls-Royce Trent 700-powered aircraft was ordered and operated by Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) from 2009 until 2016. It was then acquired by Capital Airlines (China), which operated jet until 2025. Elbe Flugzeugwerke converted the aircraft in mid-2025 at STARCO's Shanghai Hongqiao facility.
“The addition of the sixth aircraft enhances our ability to better support our customers with greater flexibility and reliability, as we continue delivering reliable cargo solutions across our network,” said chairman Tony Ma.
In a 2025 exclusive interview with ch-aviation, President Hakan Bulat noted that, while the airline was not considering adding narrowbody cargo aircraft at the time, it was looking at B777-200F jets as a potential path for future growth.
The cargo arm of Hong Kong Airlines (HX, Hong Kong International) has operated a fleet of five A330-200Fs since its launch in 2017.
