Emirates (EK, Dubai International) is hopeful it will secure slots to launch a long-coveted route to Berlin Brandenburg in December 2026. The airline submitted a slot application accordingly, although so far the necessary changes to German aviation policy have not been made. The 1994 bilateral air services agreement between the two countries limits Emirati airlines to Frankfurt International, Munich, Düsseldorf, and Hamburg as destinations. Emirates has been lobbying to add the capital of Germany to the list for years.
