Air Tahiti Nui (TN, Papeete) has appointed Lionel Guérin as chief executive officer effective February 11, 2026, replacing Philippe Marie. Guérin will continue to serve as president of domestic carrier Air Moana, a dual mandate that has drawn local criticism regarding potential conflicts of interest. Air Moana is a competitor to Air Tahiti, which - like Air Tahiti Nui - is owned by the local government.
Board chairman Hiro Arbelot stated the airline requires "disciplined and unifying leadership" to address competitive challenges. The leadership change follows governance disputes and a reported 2025 deficit of XPF2.2 billion CFP francs (USD21.9 million).
