Ethiopian Airlines (ET, Addis Ababa International) has announced plans to inaugurate three new domestic airports, Neghelli, Gore, and Debre Markos, and launch 3x weekly passenger flights to each of these destinations by mid-April 2026.

With these additions, Ethiopian Airlines’ domestic network will expand to 26 destinations, the airline said in a statement on February 18.

According to ch-aviation schedules data, the airline will operate the new routes using DHC-8-Q400s. Flights from Addis Ababa International to Gore are set to commence on April 18, followed by flights to Debre Markos on April 21.

Group CEO Mesfin Tasew described the development as "a major milestone for Ethiopian Airlines and for the nation as a whole". He added: "This expansion reflects our steadfast commitment to enhancing connectivity within Ethiopia and serves as a powerful driver of economic growth and regional development. Our mission is to build an inclusive and integrated air transport network that empowers communities, unlocks economic opportunities, and supports national development by making safe, reliable, and efficient air travel accessible to all."

In March 2024, the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) reported that Ethiopian Airlines was constructing five new domestic airports, Mizan Teferi, Neghelli, Yabelo, Gore, and Debre Markos, to broaden its domestic network. Tasew told ENA that four of these airports would be completed within a year.

Neghelli is a small, former military airport located in Negele Borana in southern Ethiopia. Gore Metu is situated in the Oromiya region in the west of the country, while Debre Markos airport serves the same-named city in northern Ethiopia's Amhara region.

In 2025, the airline inaugurated Yabelo, a greenfield airport in southern Oromia, as its 23rd domestic destination.
