Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) has publicly criticised engine supplier Pratt & Whitney for failing to meet delivery obligations, a shortfall that will constrain A320neo family production rates through 2027. Chief executive Guillaume Faury stated the manufacturer must "bite the bullet" regarding lower output, confirming it now targets approximately 870 aircraft deliveries in 2026, even though its own production capacities would allow it to exceed 900 deliveries.
Consequently, monthly A320neo output may fall short of 75 units by the end of 2026 before stabilising. The constraints have also forced a revision of A220 production targets, with the rate of 13 monthly builds now expected in 2028. Faury assessed that Pratt & Whitney's challenges stem primarily from maintenance requirements on the existing fleet.
