Skytrans Australia (QN, Cairns) has launched a regional charter air route between Sydney Kingsford Smith and Cobar, deploying a 36-seat DHC-8-200 on the sector. Weekly flights commenced on January 19, 2026, and will operate until mid-May 2026. Chief commercial officer Richard George stated that the new route "reinforces our ongoing commitment to strengthening the delivery of reliable and affordable air services to rural, regional, and remote communities." Formerly called SmartLynx Australia, the carrier recently returned to its original name after parent company Avia Solutions Group divested the SmartLynx Airlines brand in late 2025. It remains the only ASG airline to operate scheduled passenger routes alongside the group's core ACMI focus.
