The operator of Muscat airport has told business charter companies that it will prioritise government and commercial flights over non-scheduled "additional flights" to manage congestion. "Flight movements are restricted to approved seasonal scheduled services only. All airlines and operators are requested to cancel any slots falling outside the approved seasonal schedule and to refrain from submitting non-approved flight requests until further notice," the airport said. Government-organised one-off rescue charters are allowed only after prior diplomatic clearance and only if no seats are sold. Muscat has become the main alternative to airports in other Gulf countries, as Omani airspace remains open.
