Bridges Air Malta (5B, Malta International) began revenue operations with its first E190(F) on March 9, 2026, becoming the first commercial operator of the type globally.
ERJ 190-100AR(F) 9H-BRD (msn 19000360) completed maintenance at Bratislava on March 6, and was subsequently ferried to Düsseldorf for a series of test flights between that airport and Cologne/Bonn. Its first revenue flight was from Cologne/Bonn to Larnaca.
The aircraft replaced a B737-800(SF), which Bridges previously wet-leased from Cargo Air. LZ-CGE (msn 30881) returned from Leipzig/Halle to Brno on March 9.
Formerly operated by avianca airlines El Salvador as a passenger unit, 9H-BRD was converted by Embraer at São José dos Campos U.E. Stumpf International. It is owned by Regional One and is the world's first fully converted E-Jet. Bridges Air Malta also plans to add the second unit of the type, ex-N988TA (msn 19000399).
Bridges Air Malta in addition operates one ATR72-200(F) (parked at Madrid Barajas since the end of January 2026), and wet-leases one aircraft of the same type from Fleet Air International.
