Air Astana (KC, Astana Nursultan Nazarbayev) will repurchase up to 1,506,583 shares, representing approximately 0.4% of its issued share capital, for a maximum consideration of USD4 million under a renewed buyback programme for 2026, the company said in a press release.
The programme, which commenced on March 16, 2026, follows a board decision taken on March 12 and is intended to meet obligations under the airline's long-term employee incentive schemes.
The latest tranche builds on earlier buybacks launched in April 2024 for up to USD12 million, with repurchases continuing during 2025 to conclude the initial phase as part of the group's ongoing capital management. Halyk Finance has been appointed to execute purchases on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange, Astana International Exchange, and London Stock Exchange at prevailing market prices.
ch-aviation fleets data shows that Air Astana operates eleven A320-200Ns, three A321-200s, four A321-200Ns, thirteen A321-200NX(LR)s, and three B767-300ERs. Its low-cost subsidiary FlyArystan operates fifteen A320-200s and thirteen A320-200Ns.
