China Eastern Airlines (MU, Shanghai Hongqiao) parent company China Eastern Air Holding acquired 33,971,300 A-shares, valued at CNY159.7 million yuan (USD23.2 million), on March 13, 2026. The acquisition represents approximately 0.2% of the carrier's total shares. The controlling shareholder now holds a 54.9% stake in the airline, encompassing both A-shares and H-shares.
China Eastern Air Holding plans to invest between CNY500 million (USD72.7 million) and CNY1 billion (USD145.4 million) in additional A-shares over the 12 months following the initial purchase.
