The Norwegian civil aviation authority and airport operator Avinor have partnered with Bristow Group and Electra.aero to launch a regulatory sandbox project for hybrid-electric operations. The agreement involves testing the nine-passenger EL9 Ultra Short aircraft to enhance regional connectivity.

Operations will begin in mid-2027, following a six-month preparation phase. The phased programme will evaluate ultra-short take-off and landing capabilities at existing airports, parking lots, and drone pads.
