A recent SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup) proposal to reduce airport fees has been met with firm rejection by the operators of Copenhagen Kastrup, as well as Swedavia, Sweden’s main airport operator. While acknowledging the disruption caused by the Iran conflict, Københavns Lufthavne CEO Christian Poulsen stated that “we have no plans to lower the fee on that basis,” emphasising that airport fees constitute only a small proportion of airlines’ costs. Swedavia has reportedly taken a similar stance. In response, SAS CEO Anko van der Werff drew comparisons with a 10% fee reduction at Amsterdam Schiphol, alerting a potential “distortion of competition.”
