Scoot (TR, Singapore Changi) has firmed up orders for five A320neo family aircraft and exercised options for an additional six from a 2014 agreement with Airbus. The airline said in a press release that the new aircraft will be progressively delivered from 2028.
The carrier did not disclose the variant split between the A320-200N and A321-200NX, but indicated that both variants will be part of the deal.
The 11 incoming narrowbodies will be powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-JM engines. The A320-200Ns will be configured with 186 seats, while the A321-200NX will have 236 seats, both in a single-class layout.
Scoot said the additional aircraft will support capacity growth and route deployment flexibility across a five- to six-hour radius. It also plans to phase out its remaining six A320-200s by 2028 as part of its fleet renewal programme.
The commitment increases the low-cost carrier's total A320neo family orderbook to 20 aircraft. According to ch-aviation data, Scoot has outstanding orders for six A320-200Ns and three A321-200NX.
Chief executive Leslie Thng said: "We expect travel demand to continue growing, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, in the coming years. The range and capacity of the A320neo family aircraft will enable Scoot to expand and deepen Singapore Airlines Group's network connectivity, providing SIA Group with new growth opportunities and offering customers more seamless travel options."
Scoot currently operates sixty-three aircraft, comprising six A320-200s, twelve A320-200Ns, twelve A321-200NX, thirteen B787-8s, eleven B787-9s, and nine E190-E2s. It serves 85 destinations across 18 countries.
