Air France-KLM is planning to rebrand and move away from the name incorporating the two leading carriers, Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. Group CEO Ben Smith has reportedly already made the decision, despite fierce internal opposition. The proposed new name, which has not yet been unveiled or even finalised, is "The Blue Group". The holding hopes that this will allow a better integration of SAS Scandinavian Airlines (in which it currently holds a 19.9% stake but plans to take majority ownership in the future) and other possible acquisitions, such as TAP Air Portugal. Air France and KLM merged in 2004, and the current holding name has been in place since then. Besides the two flag carriers, the company also owns Transavia Airlines and Transavia France.
