The government of Ontario has released documents related to the ill-fated acquisition and subsequent sale of a 2016-built Challenger 650. Invoices issued by Bombardier Aerospace show the aircraft was bought and resold for USD21 million, with the province incurring approximately CAD190,865 Canadian dollars (USD139,100) in transaction and ownership costs. These included an aircraft management services invoice issued by Execaire Aviation totalling CAD139,628 (USD101,759). A note by the Ontario Ministry Of National Resources states that the acquisition closed on April 15 and that the jet was sold back to Bombardier on April 27.
Ontario premier Doug Ford has faced scrutiny over government spending and the suitability of the Challenger 650, acquired for executive travel primarily within the province.
